Thank you so much for your interest in the services I offer with Sierra Rae Brows + Beauty. I really value my relationship with my clients, so I feel that it is important to know who you are doing business with. I wanted to take a second to tell you a little about myself. Bare with me though, because I have never been known for my ability to make a long story short!
I was raised with my brother on a small 3rd generation beef cattle operation. My parents met each other at a rodeo, so naturally I caught the rodeo bug at an early age. Thank God for my raising, because it led me to pursue rodeo at the collegiate level- which is where I met Tyler. I am now married to my junior college sweetheart, and we live in the Northeast corner of Oklahoma on our own piece of heaven. Our vehicles are hopelessly dirty, but I am so proud to be raising our little boy on an extension of the ranch that raised my husband. Tyler is a commercial pilot as well, though these days he tends to spend more time in a feed truck or on the back of a horse than he does in the air. He is just one of those types that is successful at whatever he chooses to do, and I admire his work ethic and integrity.
I believe I found my love for makeup just like many girls- by watching my mom put hers on every morning before work. I was always the girl that did makeup for her friends for school dances. My mom used to joke that I was the only person on the planet that could have 15 of the same shades of eyeshadow and somehow still come up with a compelling argument for why I needed the 16th. I just really loved makeup!
After graduating from high school, I went to Northeastern Oklahoma A+M University in Miami, Oklahoma. To this day, I’m still not sure if I went there for an education or simply because I wanted to college rodeo, BUT nevertheless I will forever be grateful for my time at NEO. I graduated from Missouri State University, earning my bachelors degree in K-12 Cross Categorical Special Education.
I taught for 3 years while freelancing as a makeup artist, and somewhere in those years the microblading craze took social media by storm. Everybody became eyebrow obsessed- including me. At this point I was still teaching, but I was also having a decent amount of success with very little marketing effort as a makeup artist. The entrepreneur inside began to wonder if there was a way for me to make my little makeup “gig” a lucrative business.
However, my dive into the world of permanent cosmetics was not so much a dive. I was careful, calculated and chased perfection nearly to the point of paralysis. I spent countless hours researching microblading, the certification process, state law, training programs- the works. Fortunately, I found Shanan Zickefoose at Regeneration Skin Wellness in Tulsa, and reached out to her. We exchanged several back and forth emails, but I ultimately decided that I didn’t have the right connections or finances and left the idea to collect dust. About a year after our first email conversation, I was in the middle of another school year- and finally ready to put my teaching career on hold to chase down this “what if” I had nagging at me in the back of my mind. Shanan had an upcoming fundamentals training starting in July. Within a few months I put in my resignation- which was probably the second most bittersweet thing I have ever done aside from moving away from my family and my hometown. I will always love teaching and education and I truly believe that my passion for learning is what drives my dedication to continuing education events and trainings in this industry. It took me a while to get here, but I honestly believe I am where God intends for me to be. Although in a completely different way- I still have the opportunity to impact the lives of others and that is what it’s all about. I love this industry and all of the things it can do for people. It is a blessing to help restore confidence and give clients back their time.
So, for the short version…
I am a rancher/pilot’s wife, a cowboy mama, and a cowboy-girl just trying to bring beauty and simplicity to the world through makeup artistry and permanent cosmetics.
